Jeff and Krista

Krista and Jeff

A website I developed for my wedding in August of 2008. The site uses a guest management system and CMS written in Ruby on Rails that allows guests to RSVP online, get directions from Google Maps, view photos, and sign a virtual guestbook. The site also features an original design featuring our chosen wedding colors.

We provided them with with an attractive design and a custom PHP solution to allow users to sign up for this information and receive a complimentary report on geothermal heating.

Temple of Beauty

Temple of Beauty Redesign

This layout was a complete redesign of the company’s previous site. There were a number of usability issues that needed to be addressed with this redesign such as poor navigation. This issue was solved with the addition of CSS drop down menus to organize the different subsections of the site. This site contains a lot of information, so the typography and organization of information was extremely important.

* Note: Site design may have changed as I’m no longer associated with the project.

From Away

From Away Fall 2004

I decided that it would be a good idea to keep my blog separate from my portfolio, and thus “From Away” was born. The site has a bit of an “antique” feel to it, or in Cameron Moll’s words, it’s got “that wicked worn look”. This site was featured on the CSS showcase unmatched style.

Jeff Smith Designs Online Version 2

Jeff Smith Designs Winter 2004

This was the previous iteration of this site. It was a fairly popular layout, but I felt that the site needed a fresh look. It needed something a little different to set it apart from all the other designers.

AdvancedPC

AdvancedPC Site Design

Layout designed for AdvancedPC.org which was a GUI customization site that once I co-owned and operated, but has since been passed on to new management. This layout was designed for Invision Power Board 1.3 and was intended to have a very professional, smooth look. The intention was to have an attractive interface, but to not detract from the content contained within the page, mainly news stories regarding GUI customization and software, a discussion forum, as well as other tech stories of interest. I was responsible for the design and implementation of this layout.

* Note: Site is no longer online.

BornMobile.com

Bornmobile Site Design

This layout was designed for BornMobile.com, a site dedicated to mobile device support and news. The owners of this site were looking for a colorful, simple design. Their ideas for the direction of the site changed quite a few times during the design process so the layout ended up being quite different from the vision I had in the beginning. I was responsible only for the design of this layout and not the coding.
